Cookie Notice
Nothing set
until you say so.
What we set, why, and how to change your mind — with nothing set until you’ve chosen.
The short version
Land on any Orbit page and we set nothing at all — no cookies, no local storage — until you’ve answered the banner. Decline and the only things that ever get set are the handful needed to remember that decision and to take a payment safely. We don’t sell what we collect, and you can change your answer at any time from the link in the footer.
1. What cookies are
1.1 A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise your browser next time. The same rules apply to a few related technologies — local storage in particular, which is how a browser holds a small amount of data for a site. Where this notice says “cookies”, it means both. Section 4 lists the local storage we use.
1.2 This notice sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we do with personal data, and our Terms and Conditions.
2. Your choice comes first
2.1 On your first visit you’ll see a banner with four categories: necessary, preferences, statistics and marketing. Only the necessary category is switched on before you choose, and only because the site cannot do what you have asked of it otherwise. The other three stay off until you turn them on.
2.2 Declining is a complete answer. Nothing is withheld from you for saying no — every page, and the whole checkout, works exactly the same either way.
2.3 We record your choice, the categories you allowed, and when you made it, so that we can show we asked properly. Withdrawing is as easy as giving — see section 6.
3. What we set
Strictly necessary — set without asking
| Name | Set by | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
CookieConsent | Cookiebot (Usercentrics) | Remembers which categories you accepted or declined, so we don’t ask again on every page. | 12 months |
__stripe_mid | Stripe | Fraud prevention on the payment step — helps Stripe recognise the same device across payment attempts. | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Stripe | Fraud prevention within a single payment session. | 30 minutes |
3.1 The two Stripe cookies are set only when you reach the payment step, and they are Stripe’s own — they exist to stop card fraud. Nothing is set by them on our marketing pages. Orbit sets no cookies of its own anywhere on the site.
Optional — only after you tick
| Category | What it would do | In use? |
|---|---|---|
| Preferences | Would remember display choices you’ve made. We do not currently set anything in this category. | None set today |
| Statistics | Would measure how the site is used — which pages are read, where visitors arrive from — so we could improve it. | None set today |
| Marketing | Would let us measure advertising and show relevant ads on other sites. | None set today |
3.2 Our tags are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which is configured outside this website. Today that container loads only the consent banner itself — no analytics and no advertising tags — so accepting the optional categories currently changes nothing. If we add one, the banner will block it until you consent, and we will name it here first.
4. Local storage
4.1 Two things are kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie. Both are strictly necessary, both are first-party, and neither is used to track you:
- Your checkout progress (
orbit_checkout_v1) — the plan and details you’ve entered, so a refresh or a wrong turn doesn’t make you start again. Removed as soon as your order is placed. - Your sign-in session — held only if you sign in to your Orbit account, and only for as long as you stay signed in. Clearing it signs you out.
5. Third parties
5.1 Four third parties are involved in the pages you look at:
- Cookiebot (Usercentrics) — provides the consent banner and records your choice.
- Google Tag Manager — loads our tags, and loads Cookiebot. It sets no cookies itself.
- Stripe — the payment step. Stripe sets the two cookies in section 3 for fraud prevention.
- Google Fonts — serves one of our typefaces. It sets no cookies, but requesting a file from Google does reveal your IP address to Google, which is why we mention it here.
5.2 Each of these is its own controller for what it does with that data, under its own privacy terms. The providers that handle data for us — hosting, storage, email — are listed in the Privacy Policy instead, as they aren’t about cookies.
6. Changing your mind
6.1 Reopen the banner and change any category at any time:
6.2 “Manage cookies” in the footer of every page does the same thing. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser’s own settings, which overrides anything set here — though clearing them also clears your recorded choice, so you’ll be asked again.
